Screen and body: how to assess condition in 5 minutes
Dead pixels, stains, colour shifts and signs of opening — what to look for and how.
The inspection takes five minutes and decides whether the price is fair.
Screen
· Open a plain white and then a black full-screen background. Dead pixels and stains only show that way.
· Tilt the screen — greenish or pink patches mean a worn OLED.
· Look for burn-in: a static icon left behind like a ghost.
· Slide a finger across the whole surface: an unresponsive area shows up immediately.
· Inspect the edges — lifted glass means a swollen battery or a bad repair.
Body
· Small scratches on the frame are normal and do not affect operation.
· A dent on a corner usually means a drop — check the camera and screen more carefully.
· A gap between glass and frame means the device has been opened.
· Missing or mismatched bottom screws on an iPhone are the same signal.
Camera and its glass
Take photos in bright light and in the dark. Blurry patches on the images mean scratched or cracked camera glass.
How we grade
· Grade A — no visible marks from normal distance.
· Grade B — light marks, visible on closer inspection.
· Grade C — visible scratches or dents, fully working device.
